Medical Assistant Program Description
Medical Assistants are a vital part of the healthcare industry. Medical assistants work alongside physicians in many healthcare settings. As an MA, you are often the first and last person a patient interacts with, making a lasting impact on the patient experience.

PROGRAM DURATION: 7 weeks (56 clock hours)

CLASSROOM HOURS: 8

EXTERNSHIP is optional for students but strongly encouraged for those with no clinical background.

CREDENTIAL TO BE AWARDED: National Certified Medical Assistant

School Attire is black scrubs and closed-toed shoes (scrubs not included in tuition price).

Medical Assistant Program & Course Assignments
The Medical Assistant program is one of the programs offered by Vital Medical Institute, located in Virginia.
Clinical Duties:​

Taking medical histories

Assisting providers with exams and procedures

Administering injections or medications

Performing basic laboratory tests

Removing sutures and changing dressings

Transmitting prescription refills as directed
Administrative Duties:

Answering telephones

Updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR)

Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure

Updating and filing patient medical records

Academic Advising
Students may schedule an appointment for tutoring or academic advising as needed throughout the three-month course. The instructor and institution create a supportive atmosphere to help students address academic, professional, and personal needs to guide students through the program successfully.

STUDENT-FACULTY INTERACTION
Vital Medical Institute ensures interaction between students and faculty and among students by integrating a variety of educational methods and interpersonal communication to ensure a successful learning environment. Small class sizes are essential to understand every student's learning style when developing comprehensive student-faculty interactions. Four types of learning styles are used to teach the program: visual, audio, read/write, and kinesthetic.
